Pamper Night

Its official, autumn is rolling in bringing with it the shorter days and longer nights.  Although I’m somewhat excited about hot chocolate, cosy pyjamas and big fluffy socks whilst watching the X Factor, Sunday nights do sometimes need a little something even more self indulgent.  PAMPER NIGHT!!!  Actually, it was a mini pamper night as I only decided at about 10pm!

Review: TRESemme Instant Fresh Volumising Dry Shampoo

I have dark hair which unfortunately means that the usual suspects in the dry shampoo line up don’t work for me.  They leave an obvious greyish layer over my hair and give it a very matte finish.

Step up TRESemme!! This is the only dry shampoo I have used that mops up some of the oil without wiping out all traces of shine.  This has made it into my everyday hair care drawer!

Review: Lancôme Gel Éclat Clarifying Cleanser Pearly Foam

Firstly let me start by saying that my skin type is.....erm.....odd.  Usually it is on the oily side of combination, prone to breakouts with the occasional dehydrated patches (and anything else in between!)
This cleanser has a luxuriously thick almost mask like consistency,  something us oily skin sufferers would usually steer well clear of however this leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean, oil free and comfortable with no tightness.  This is exactly what I would expect/hope for from a good cleanser so I’m really happy I gave this cleanser a go.

With its refreshingly clean scent, this cleanser is an absolute pleasure to use morning and night.
“A fine, luxurious pearly foam acts deep-down to free skin of toxins and impurities.  Rich in anti-oxidants, with white Lotus and Rose de France, Gel Éclat has a perfect affinity with the skin”

Glossy Box August

I'm a bit late in getting this post up but here is what I received in my Glossy Box.

I was really impressed by the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil.  Being an oily skin sufferer, I didn’t really fancy the thought of adding more oil to my skin!  However, I had heard good reports about the Shu Uemura face oils so I thought I would give this one a go.  It removed my makeup including mascara quickly and easily.  My skin felt squeaky clean after using it and it didn’t leave any residue behind.  This is great for those nights when you get home late and you want a quick way to wash your face.

I was disappointed when I saw Lipcote in my Glossy Box, it reminded me of my early teens and one word......drying.  Determined to try to get my lipstick to see it past my first morning coffee, I decided to give Lipcote a second chance.  I applied it over the Glossy Box lipstick and then applied a little Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream on top.  It did make my lipstick last much longer and it wasn’t quite as drying as I remembered it being.  A few hours after I applied it, my lips did feel a little dry. I wouldn’t use this as an everyday product but this would be ideal for nights out.

Origins Ginger Souffle Whipped Body Cream

I first heard about this Body Cream from Tanya Burr (Pixi2woo on you tube) and I was immediately intrigued by the word “Souffle”. I’m a marketing dream; I am immediately pulled into products when they call them things like Cleansing Milk or Body Souffle! It seems to make them sound even more luxurious. I have to be honest, the ginger scent didn’t really appeal to me however as soon as I smelt it, I was hooked. The scent is very fresh and the ginger is not too over powering. The body cream itself is lovely, it rubs in easily to the skin and doesn’t leave a tacky residue. I can really feel the difference the next day. My skin feels soft and still lightly fragranced.

Liz Earle Orange Flower Botanical Body Wash

I got this shower gel as a birthday present and I absolutely love it! It smells amazing, you can really smell the essential oils. The naturally active ingredients are organic oats and yarrow, rose scented geranium and natural vitamin E. It lathers up well and leaves the skin feeling clean, soft and lightly scented. Another excellent product from Liz Earle.

Revlon Lip Butter

Finally! I have got my eager little paws on the long awaited Revlon Lip Butters! Revlon promised us the world with these lip butters, did they deliver?
The Revlon Lip Butters are halfway between a lip balm and a lipstick. I would say these lean more towards the lipstick side. Being a lip balm aficionado, I had high hopes for the lip butters but I didn’t find them to be as hydrating as I hoped they would be.  It goes on lovely and looks nice and glossy for about an hour when the glossy look wears off however the colour remains for between 2-3 hours.
I thought the price tag of £7.99 was a little steep, and then I saw the packaging (I’m a sucker for nice packaging!). They look like a lipstick and the outside is the same colour as the product inside which I love!
The colours I got were 080 Strawberry Shortcake and 025 Peach Parfait. I don’t like the peach parfait as it has too much gold shimmer for my liking but I do really like the strawberry shortcake.
Overall, I really like the Revlon Lip Butters, they have great colour payoff and they have a nice smooth texture to them. For me, this product is a nice creamy lipstick; I wouldn’t use this as a lip balm.
